Gutfeld, now the number one show in late night, recreated in LEGO! Plus Tyrus, Kat and the set, complete with working lights and a unicorn coffee mug. Featured on the show 8/20/21. Check it out here.
Built for the Odyssey display at the Brickworld fan convention, 2014. This creation served as the center-piece to the entire display, with the Gods overseeing Odysseus’ progress. It inspired another builder, David Alexander Smith, to write about creating worlds out of LEGO.
The David E. and Stacey L. Goel Center for Theater and Dance at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH. Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects.
This build was a gift to my classmate, David, and his wife, Stacey, on the one year anniversary of the Goel Center. It was on display in the lobby for the 2019-2021 academic years.
A few years ago my friend a Dave Kaleta was commissioned by the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools to build a replica of the Gordon Parks Arts Hall as a gift for George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson. With that in mind, I figured I’d give architecture a try.
Built for the Wizard of Oz display at the Brickworld fan convention, 2013. This scene was built in grey-scale to mimic the scene from the classic movie. Although the Tornado rotated, it was also constructed to look as if it were in motion.
Built for the SHIPtember online event, 2014. SHIP being an acronym for Seriously Huge Investment in Parts. The goal of the month-long building binge is to create a spaceship 100 studs or greater. A poster of all the ships is compiled and made available to print.
Built for the Game of Thrones display at the Brickworld fan convention, 2017. Although she was misidentified as Elsa thirty seven times, Daenerys overlooked the lands of Westeros, surveying her future kingdom.
Built for the Battlestar Galactica display at Brickworld, 2018. At 140 studs long, it weighs-in just shy of thirty pounds. Within the curved exterior is an inflexible three foot Technic skeleton that allowed the ship to be suspended at just three points in the middle section of the hull.
Built for the MocAthalon online contest, 2016. This was my first venture into the midi-land scale, brick-built figures.
Built for the Sharknado online contest 2014, based on the SciFi movie of the same name. The premise was to create a scene that might appear in the upcoming sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One. And you guessed it, there was a subway shark scene.
Built for the Mini-Land Putt Putt display, Brickworld, 2016. Based on the Star Trek original series episode, The Apple.
Built for the Around the World in 80 Days display at Brickworld, 2015. The concept of this build was to create an exploded view of the Arabian Peninsula, from the micro scale Giza Plateau and Petra to the minifigure scale Port City.
Built for the Airplane! display at the Brickworld fan convention, 2019.
The Princess Bride
The opening scene from the movie of the same name. Built for The Princess Bride display at Brickworld, 2019. The room decor was changed to reference various other movies from the 1980’s, in addition to the posters depicting the two actors in other roles.
